Bodhisattva Chattopadhyay

Theorist of Possibilities, Builder of Worlds

Hi! I am Bodhisattva.

My research is on global imaginaries of the future, and how these imaginaries transform our everyday existence in the present and open up new possibilities for the future. I hold a PhD in science fiction.

I work with and train institutions, organizations, and professionals in future readiness, foresight, speculative world-building, and strategic thinking in the fields of climate change, technological change, and demographic change. I have delivered over 100 keynotes and lectures worldwide on science fiction and futures research. If you are interested in my work use the form to contact me.

I am a multiple awardee of top European Research Council (ERC) R&D grants: CoFutures, the first ERC project on contemporary global futurisms, and CoFutures Literacy, the first ERC proof-of-concept award given for humanities based applied research in Norway. In addition to critical, theoretical, and methodological work, I have produced documentary films, software, games, art, fiction, and translation. My work has been translated into ten languages. Along the way, I have won the World Fantasy Award. There’s some more details if you scroll down, but the best place to find my work is to follow CoFutures.

I am Associate Professor in Global Culture Studies at IKOS, University of Oslo.

I am also Fellow of the Imaginary College at Centre for Science and the Imagination, Arizona State University.
